FujiFilm Instax Mini 9 Camera Review

FujiFilm Instax Mini 9 Camera Review

This is a small Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Camera Review for those who interested in buy one of  those latest cheap instant cameras. This is the success or Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera. Outside look is pretty much same and same in size too. Mini 9 comes in 6 different colors, Cobalt blue,Ice blue, Flamingo pink, Lime green and Smokey white.

In early 2017 Fujifilm released Instax Mini 9 into market without any big promotions or anything. This was after 5 years of Instax Mini 8 was launched. Tell you the truth are not big improvements apart from additional selfie mirror. Maybe this is why Fuji didn't make a big fuss about the launch of new instant camera. Basically it's same Instax Mini 8 with a different paint job.

This model uses Instax Mini Film packs just like any other FujiFilm Instax Mini instant photo camera in market today. They are offering new Fujifilm Instax Mini Film Value Packs but sadly you save only few cents in each photo print. It's not an offer worth looking into at all. But Fuji has increase the number of themed film packs they release. Now you can find 10 photo packs in so many cartoon and movie themes.

Anyway Fuji had managed to keep the price below 100 usd for this model too. That's a good news. Anyone wants a cheap Polaroid camera should take Instax Mini 9 as one of the best options out there for that price range. There are better options like FujiFilm Instax Mini 90 but that cost more money. Polaroid Snap is not a bad choice either. Apically if you like to save your images same time printing those. Another below 100 usd Instant Camera with similar features is Fuji Instax Mini Hello Kitty. But it's totally unique Hello Kitty design make it not suitable for everyone. But Mini Hello Kitty is  just a Mini 8 with a different outer design. It's a very cute instant camera and might be a great gift for girl who love Hello Kitty items or anything cute and pink.

This FujiFilm Instax Mini 9 Camera Review is for anyone who needs a basic idea about this instant camera model and also for those who want to see what's new in this cam. If you have read the review then by now you know there isn't anything unique about this camera. Only reason why you should go for Mini 9 rather than Mini 8 is because price is pretty much same. So there is no point going for 5 years old design when there is a brand new one.

Cute Polaroid Cameras

Girls love cute Polaroid Cameras just like they did in 70s and 80s. But now there are lots of cute instant camera models in market. Specially Fujifilm Instax series has so many lovely cameras. But Some of those old Polaroid cam can still beat these new instant cams when it comes cuteness. This post is for take a look back in memory lane and find those beauties from past.

But remember these old models won't be great for taking instant prints anymore. It's really hard to find these old models in working condition. Also old Polaroid film packs are lot more expensive than new film. Even those alternative film packs from Impossible Project are expensive.

Fujifilm Instax Mini Hello Kitty

I think the most beautiful and cute Instant camera in market today is Fujifilm Instax Mini Hello Kitty. There aren't many other models out there you can compare with this beauty. One of the biggest differences is all other cameras become cute because of their paint jobs. Apart from that those cameras are just same models and designs. But this Mini Hello Kitty is a unique design. Have you see any other better looker than this when it comes to Polaroid cameras ?

Polaroid 600 Barbie
Polaroid 600 Barbie

Polaroid 600 Barbie must be the most colorful instant camera in Polaroid camera line. This model has become a very rare limited edition which has high demand among collectors. Today a unit in working condition would cost you at least 200 usd, specially if it's in mint condition with box and everything. A used one can find in eBay sometimes but still it would cost at least $100.

Polaroid 600 Hello Kitty

Polaroid 600 Hello Kitty Limited Edition. This is another beautiful type 600 instant camera. All these cameras have same design apart from different paint jobs. Another very hard to find Polaroid camera. A complete set in mint condition would cost you about 300 usd. Used one can be get for $100 to upward. If you are lucky it would be in working condition.

How to Choose a Polaroid Camera

How to Choose a Polaroid Camera
Fujifilm Instax Mini Hello Kitty Camera

How to choose a Polaroid camera is something often asked by people who want to buy an instant photo camera. Even the question is some what wrong because many don't know Polaroid is just a brand not a camera type. So the real question is how to choose an instant camera ?

Often you might get an answer like oh don't buy Polaroid cameras because those are old and out dated and Polaroid has stopped making cameras years ago. This is not exactly true. Polaroid do make cameras and there are around 6 instant cameras launched by Polaroid ever since they shut down their analog camera and film production. Yes, Now they don't make analog instant cameras anymore. They only make instant digital cameras.

So why digital instant cameras ? There is always new trends out there. Polaroid instant film cameras were popular when everyone had to take their film reels to photo labs. It took one or two days when you receive printed copies of your negatives. So instant cameras were the best thing. You get to have photo prints right away. But then came digital age. Computers and digital cameras so you can insert photos to computer and check those right away. Also you can keep those stored there without spending money to develop. People no longer need an instant printing process for their cameras.

Because of this film cameras become loose popularity and digital cameras have become a must have. Polaroid had started loosing money because they tried to stick with their old analog instant cams. At end they were bankrupted and had to be sold to another company. So the new company realized they had do something about this. That's how digital instant cameras become Polaroids focus.

There are several great instant digital cameras such has Polaroid Snap, Polaroid Z340Polaroid Socialmatic Camera etc. If you want images to be saved into memory so you can move those out of camera then go for one of these models.

It's not a good idea buying of those old Polaroid analog instant film cameras such as Polaroid 600, Polaroid SX-70 or Polaroid Spectra cameras. Impossible Project Co. do make film for these 3 types but those film packs are bit expensive. There is Polaroid 300 camera which is just a re-branded Instax Mini 7s model so you can forget about that one too.

Fujifilm Instax series is the best analog instant photo cameras in market today. These cameras are cheaper than new Polaroid cams and also photo quality is really good too. If you want a cheap instant camera then go for a model like Fujifilm Instax 210 or Fujifilm Instax Mini 8. If you prefer to have an instant cam with advance features then check new models like Fujifilm Instax Mini 70, Fujifilm Instax 300 or Fujifilm Instax Mini 90.

Also if it's for a girl then check the Fujifilm Instax Mini Hello Kitty camera. It's cheap and also cute. Unique Hello Kitty design makes it stand out from all other Instax cam models.

Worth Buying an Old Polaroid Camera

Worth Buying an Old Polaroid Camera
Polaroid Automatic 230 Land Camera

For some reason people still ask questions like is it worth buying an old Polaroid camera. After 2008 when Polaroid closed production of analog instant cameras and film there was a big panic among Polaroid camera users about film and also about cameras. But Instant camera industry has passed than stage years ago. You no longer need to bother about it. There are plenty of new instant cameras in market.

Even thought Polaroid no longer make analog instant cameras they do make instant digital cameras such as Polaroid Z340, Polaroid Snap, Polaroid Socialmatic etc. These cameras use new Polaroid Zink Media Photo paper which is so much better than old instant film like Polaroid 600 Film, Type SX-70 film etc. Lot cheaper too.

If you are looking for a cheap Polaroid camera to buy then might thinking about an old Polaroid camera like 600 series, SX-70 series, Spectra series etc but its really hard to find vintage cam which is in working condition. Even if you find one then it will be next to impossible get it working without film packs. Impossible Project Co. do make three 5 types of film and apart from that you might not get a chance to test your Polaroid cam.

Impossible Project film cost you around 3 bucks per print. Well it's better than having no film at all but not so good if you try to use your camera daily. But Fujifilm Instax series instant film cameras might be better choice for that. Cams like Instax Mini 90, Instax Mini 70, Instax 300 are very good and durable. Instax Film packs are available everywhere and cheap too.

So if you are looking for a good Polaroid camera for just daily use then those old cameras are not for you. Go for a digital instant camera or one of these Fujifilm Instax cameras. If you are looking for instant photo camera for an event like wedding then get a Polaroid Z340. This is the best perfect one for something like that since it let you check images before print those.

But there are plenty of people who love vintage cameras like these old Polaroid instant cam models. For a collector these cams worth more than any new camera. Because these become old and rare. Harder and harder to find. Polaroid had sold over 1.5 Million cameras of their first commercial model, Polaroid Highlander 95 since 1948-1957. But how many of these do you see in market today for sale ?

Impossible Project I-Type Film

Impossible Project I-Type Film

Impossible Project I-Type Film is what you should use for Impossible Project I-1 instant camera. Since this camera is similar to Polaroid 600 series many think it takes Polaroid 600 or Impossible Project 600 film but it does not ! For this new camera you must use Impossible Project I-Type Film.

Impossible Project I-1 camera has it's own lithium battery for power so it doesn't need to be powered by film pack. So they have created new battery less film pack specifically for new instant photo camera. If you have bought the new camera then make sure to buy the right film packs. Also these new film packs are cheaper than usual Type 600 packs.

There are B&W I-Type film packs and Color I-Type film packs. They haven't released  any fancy packs like Round Frame, Gold Frame,  Silver Frame yet but soon these will be  available too.

Still there are people who are unhappy with performance of Impossible Project film. Some complain about duds and some about dead film packs. Fortunately these are isolated cases. Plus there are no other alternative and even those expired Polaroid 600 film packs are getting harder and harder to find.

Impossible Project Co. has released new packs for all their instant film series. 600 series, SX-70 series and Spectra series. So if you are searching these then make sure to buy latest packs rather than older. There is a good chance older packs are not so good at new stuff. After all they have been keep researching and experimenting to produce better quality products so there is a good chance you will find more problems with older film packs.

Don't forget there are so many new Instant camera models available in market today. Those amazing cameras such as Instax Mini 70, Instax Mini 90s from Fujifilm Instax series and also new Polaroid instant digital cameras like Polaroid Snap, Polaroid z340, Polaroid Socialmatic Camera etc.

New Zink Photo Paper and Instax Photo Paper are so much better than old Polaroid film and new Impossible Project film. Not just better quality but also cheaper too.

Impossible-Project I-1 Camera

Impossible-Project I-1 Camera

Have you heard about Impossible-Project I-1 Camera ? So finally Impossible Project has created and released their own Instant Camera. Basically this is the first analog instant photo camera came to market which use Polaroid Type 600 instant film. Polaroid 600 series film packs and cameras are long gone but guys at Impassible Project producing new Type 600 film which you can use for this cam.

One of the problems with this camera is you can't call it a cheap instant camera. This is probbly the most expensive Type 600 camera ever made. Impossible Project has put a $300 price tag on it. Personally it's way too expensive for me. Plus when you think about $3 per print photos it's way too much money for a instant photo print.

There is an App which let you connect this camera with your iPhone. No sadly it doesn't have a digital sensor so you can't have your photos. But this App let your some of those camera controls including timer option. They don't have an Android app but said to be released by September 2016.

They have even released a new type of type 600 film along with this camera and  It must be more improved version of old Impossible Project film packs. If you already have a I-1 or plan to buy one make sure to use these latest film rather than old film packs.

There is one interesting fact which makes this model different from old Polaroid 600 cameras. It has it's own power source, an inbuilt lithium battery. Film pack comes with a battery too but camera doesn't relay on that to power all it's functions. This is a really good improvement.

Anyway I don't think this can be passed as a cheap instant camera or cheap Polaroid camera. It's a nice product for those who crazy about old Polaroid 600 models but not something great for daily use. Camera is too expensive and also film price is not the lowest in market.

If you want a cheap Polaroid camera then there plenty of other options in market today. The best thing about these cheap instant cameras is they use newly made film packs which are lot cheaper than old instant film. There are nice digital instant cams like Polaroid Snap, Polaroid z340 etc and Also there are Fuji Instax series models like Instax Mini 70, Instax Mini 90, Instax 300 etc.

Impossible Project 2nd Gen Black and While Film

Impossible Project 2nd Gen Black and While Film

Impossible Project Co. has been the savior of old Polaroid camera users and fans ever since Polaroid Co decide simply to shut down everything including film factories. So we have more respect and faith on than Polaroid it self. Even though even they can't do much about it, at least Impossible Project is making film packs for Polaroid 600, SX-70 and Spectra cameras.

Now they have the second generation of their Black and White Polaroid film packs. For years these instant film packs are the only alternative out there for Polaroid camera users. Cost per print would be around $4, but it's better than nothing. Those film packs were not 100% perfect either. These had same problems old Polaroid film packs had,

These were slow to develop and there were duds here and there. Also photo quality was not so great either. Nobody would blame them for these since everyone appreciated the effort. But now, after years of experiments they have come out with far more superior line of film packs. So far these 2nd Generation packs are only available in black and white.

Old Polaroid film needed to be shield from light for a half an hour after you expose it. Also film would ruin unless you kept it with give temperature range. Anyway you must read instructions before you if you haven't use impossible Project film packs before. I have seen so many people leave negative reviews, blaming on film for not working properly. Over 75% of those reviews are totally wrong. Usually reason is they try to use the film without having a clue how to do it properly.

Right now Black & White 2 gen Film packs are available at Amazon for $24 (Check Amazon sales page for current price and details >> Here << ). 2 Gen. color film packs are not released yet so you can expect those in near future.

Anyway if you are new to Polaroid cameras then don't even think about buying one of these old used cameras. You will end up with all sorts of problems. There are plenty of really good new instant photo cameras out there in market for example here are some latest models,

These instant film camera are the latest from Polaroid and Fujifilm brands. Polaroid cameras are instant digital cameras. Instax Mini 70 and Polaroid Snap are the latest models in market today. Both these cameras use Mini film which cost you only around 50 cent per photo print. It's a big difference when you compare with $4 per print Impossible Project film packs.
